It was a year of unprecedented performance. In 1992, the 300 mile per hour barrier was shattered. Kenny Bernstein broke through that barrier by more than a full mph in Gainesville. He then did it three more time in that year. Eddie Hill ran 4.80 at that same event and both Bernstein and Cory McClenathan ran 4.79 before the year was over. But still Joe Amato held off McClenathan, Bernstein, Don Prudhomme and Ed McCulloch for his fifth NHRA World Championship.
The roots of the Cruz Pedregon vs. John Force rivalry were solidly planted in 1992. Al Hoffman and ‘91 “Rookie of the Year” Del Worsham made gallant runs at the title, but it was Pedregon and Force left standing at the end with Force in an unfamiliar position. In Pro Stock Warren Johnson, Jerry Eckman and Scott Geoffrion engaged in a year long, see-saw battle for the crown before Johnson pulled away. “NHRA Drag Racing 92” has it all wrapped up in a hard-charging, thrill-packed package for your home video drag strip.
